NICU Facility

Our NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) with advanced equipment caters to all high risk babies with special needs including premature babies and new born babies with complications. This unit also provides pre and postoperative management of neonatal surgical cases, delayed cry during birth, ventilator need etc. To ease the stress and anxiety of parents of such babies, we encourage them to actively participate in the day-to-day care of their baby. Our NICU has treated many babies and prides itself as a unit with one of the lowest infection and highest survival rate in Karnal region.

Levels of Care

Neonates Weighing more than 1800 grams

Neonates weighing more than 1800 grams or having gestational maturity of 34 weeks or more are categorized under level I care. The care consists of basic care at birth, provision of warmth, maintaining a sepsis and promotion of breastfeeding. This type of care can be given at home, sub center and primary health center.

Neonates weighing 1200-1800 grams

Neonates weighing 1200-1800 grams or having gestational maturity of 30–34 weeks are looked after by trained nurses and pediatricians. The equipment and facilities used for this level of care include equipment for resuscitation, maintenance of thermoneutral environment, intravenous infusion, gavage feeding, phototherapy and exchange blood transfusion.

Neonates weighing less than 1200 grams

Neonates weighing less than 1200 grams or having gestational maturity of less than 30 weeks. The care is provided at Mimani Hospital which is equipped with centralized oxygen and suction facilities, servo-controlled incubators, vital signs monitors, transcutaneous monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps etc. This type of care is provided by skilled nurses and neonatologists.
